► Once upon a time the Lion, the Fox, the Jackal (and) the Wolf agreed that they will hunt together and each will to others all that he found.

【4】 Umanar i Narmo roitanë ar faranë Arasso ar lintië yallë máloryar estatiën i harma.

              

► One day the Wolf chased and hunted a Stag and quickly called his comrades to divide the treasure.

【5】 Lacestaina, i Rauro túlë opo altamat meter ciritas ar, höa ettaniénen failasseo, yestanë nótë i naþali.

                   

► Unasked, the Lion came before the great-meal in order to divide it and, by a great spectacle of justice, began to count the guests.

【6】 “Minya,” eques, nótila raccaryainen, “ná imni, i Rauro.

            

► "(The) first," he said, counting by his claws, "is myself, the Lion.

¶ Atta, ná i Narmo, neldë na i Huar, ó i Rusco nalmë canta.”

                

► (The) second is the Wolf, (the) third is the Jackal and with the Fox we are four."

          

► Then with great care he divided the Stag into four equivalent pieces.

【8】 “Nányë Rauro Aran,” eques yá etéliës, “epetai aþahanyë cavin minya asta.

             

► "I am Lion King," he said when he had finished, "therefore understandably I receive (the) first part.

¶ Neuna asta ná nin pan nányë i arturca illion; ar tana ná ninya pan nányë i arverya illion.”

                   

► (This) next part is for me because I am the strongest of all; and that (one) is mine because I am the bravest of all."

【9】 Sí yestanes tirë i hyani amahráva.

      

► Then he began watching the others very savagely.

¶ “Aiquen leo canë i lemba asta,” yarranes, rahtaila raccaryar raxeävë, “sí ná i lúmë etequetiën.”

                  

► "If anybody of you claims the leftover part," he growled, stretching his claws dangerously, "now is the time for speaking out."
